Responsibilities/relationships

  • Work with the customer on integrating and Post Event systems for their purposes: deployment, configuration, ongoing maintenance (e.g., backups, upgrades…)
  • Help debug problems.
  • Correct problems with the system components including sometimes rapid development of intermediary solutions until a real one can be put in place.
  • Survey and report on camera installations.
  • · Help developers with integrating into the Kubernetes platform and everything that entails.
  • Advise on sane practices in container environments, systems, networks, etc.
  • Must be willing to sometimes work funny hours in order to avoid outages at peak usage intervals.

Experience and Skills Requirements

  • System administration and maintenance (Linux, specifically Ubuntu, Bash scripting and the likes of it).
  • Network administration and maintenance.
  • Automation (Ansible preferred but other options exist, like Salt, Terraform, etc).
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems.
  • Business requirement analysis in conjunction with the domain specialists (the client, usually).
  • Scripting with a language like Python.
  • Understanding of JS, Java and C++ code is a must, being able to develop well with those is a massive plus.
